Enzymes And Probiotics Are Keys To Health And Digestion

November 12th, 2009 by

The gastrointestinal system, a complex network of organs and glands which extracts nutrients and water from the food that we eat so that they can be used by the body, processes the food in six phases. First, it mentally prepares the stomach for the meal that we are about to eat. Then, it takes food into the body, followed by moving that food through the GI tract. Next, it breaks down the food with both mechanical and chemical processes and then absorbs the digestive food into the vascular and lymphatic systems for distribution to the cells. Finally, the indigestible substances and waste products are eliminated from the body. Digestion itself is divided into two categories, those being mechanical and chemical. Mechanical digestion is the physical movement that assists chemical digestion. After the initial breakdown by chewing, food is churned by the smooth muscles of the stomach and small intestine, allowing it to mix with the enzymes that start the chemical reactions. Chemical digestion, on the other hand, is a series of chemical reactions that break down large carbohydrate, lipid, and protein molecules into smaller molecules that can enter blood vessels. In order for optimal digestion to occur, all of these processes must work together. If any part of the system under or over-performs, physical problems will most likely occur.

Enzymes are extremely important to digestion because without them digestion could not take place and the food we eat could not be absorbed into our bodies to be utilized. Enzymes, which are complex proteins that are produced by living cells and can be found in digestive juices, start chemical reactions in the body. They act on food by breaking it down into simpler components that can be used by the body for energy. If digestive enzymes don’t work adequately, inadequate digestion will result which is thought to be a significant cause of food allergies. When food is not digested completely it can initiate allergic reactions in the body, causing inflammation and immune sensitivity and lead to chronic inflammatory conditions and certain types of arthritis.

There are many enzymes that are part of the digestion process. However, there are three main enzymes that are involved in digestion. These are amylase, protease, and lipase. Other enzymes, including sucrase, lactase, and maltase are very important for secondary function in digestion. Amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates, can be found in saliva and pancreatic secretions. It initiates digestion of dietary starches and breaks down starch into several simpler molecules. Disaccharides including lactose, maltose, and sucrose, are broken down into simple sugars by lactase, maltase, and sucrase. These simple sugars can be absorbed through the small intestine to help with energy production. Proteases, which break down protein, cause protein digestion to begin in the stomach. The stomach’s acidic environment activates the protease pepsin, which is deactivated in the alkaline environment of the intestine. Proteins are further broken down by pancreatic enzymes into amino acids in the intestine. Lipases break down fat into essential fatty acids. Fat digestion speeds up in the second part of the small intestine with the help of the pancreatic lipases. These lipase enzymes are responsible for the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Animal enzymes, especially those that are derived from pig enzymes are very similar to human digestive enzymes. Animal enzymes are much more sensitive to pH extremes; therefore many animal enzyme formulas sold as dietary supplements contain bicarbonates to protect the enzymes from stomach acid. Plant derived enzymes, on the other hand; come from fungal and botanical sources. They are able to survive a broad range of pH differences and provide a larger range of activity in the gastrointestinal tract. Plant enzymes are often preferred by those who wish to avoid animal-derived products.

Along with these, there are many other dietary supplements that are effective in supporting digestive health, specifically probiotic supplements, which offer numerous health benefits. Probiotics are non-toxic, live bacteria that are necessary for life and do not cause disease. The most commonly studied probiotics are those from the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium group. Because these two probiotic groups have the ability to break down lactose, they are known as lactic acid bacteria. These probiotics can be found in many foods and dietary supplements. In our intestines we have colonies of bacteria called microflora, which is associated with good health when they are normal. However, changes in intestinal health are often associated with a weakened immune function and an imbalance in the natural microflora is often linked with various diseases such as yeast infections and colon cancer. By orally ingesting probiotic bacteria, we help to support the composition and metabolic activities of the microflora found in the large intestine. These microflora help the digestive process through fermentation, protection against disease-causing bacteria, and stimulation of certain immune system components. Probiotic bacteria have also demonstrated anti-cancer properties in many studies. Results have shown that people taking L. acidophilus fermented milk have a much larger number of intestinal Lactobacilli, which in turn decreases the risk factors associated with colon cancer.

Lactose is an important sugar that is converted to lactic acid by lactic acid bacteria. Many people have lactose intolerance as a result of genetics, gastrointestinal disease, or a decline in the amount of intestinal lactase levels that are associated with aging. Lactose intolerance is caused by an inability to digest lactose because of a failure of small intestine cells to produce lactase (the enzyme needed to digest lactose). Those who are deficient in lactase accumulate non-absorbed lactose in the GI tract, drawing water and electrolytes into the gut. This leads to bloating, cramping, diarrhea, and malabsorption of nutrients. Lactic acid bacteria support the breakdown of lactose by enhancing the activity of lactase, therefore improving digestion and tolerance. Although probiotic bacteria usually survive passage through the stomach, they do not permanently colonize in the body. Therefore, to ensure optimal support of the digestive system, these probiotic bacteria need to be replenished. To do so, they should be ingested regularly in order for their health-promoting effects to continue. Digestive enzymes and probiotics can be found at your friendly online vitamin store.

New Innovations Explored By Nokia Cell Phones No Contract

November 11th, 2009 by

Nokia Cell Phones No Contract has gone, with one phone at least, the way of targeting on a certain group with their new 6700 plated in 18-carat gold. Not to mention their all new No Contract Cell Phones blooming up there as well. While the majority of cell phone companies to date have been concentrated on revving up their best smartphones for the market some corporations are also trying their luck with niche and demographic specific phones, targeting certain groups instead of the general population. Both tactics have had success in keeping the companies competitive in an ever–widening market and both are definitely beneficial in making corporations distinct.

Nokia Cell Phones 6700 “Gold Edition ” is plated fully with 18-carat gold and includes matching gold wallpapers. These are a part of an increasing, though not huge, trend of luxury cell phones on the market today. LG Cell Phones have done similar such items as have designer brands, coming out with cell phones sold completely in department stores and shops. The Nokia 6700 “Gold Edition ” also has a great 5 megapixel camera which has car focus as well as an LED flash, noise cancelling technology for disruptive outside noise and even Nokia maps for both driving and walking directions. So while this is going to be a luxury phone it isn’t all looks it does have excellent functionality, too.

It is a luxury phone that includes a slim, sleek design, beautiful aesthetics and a fairly rich feature. When all is settled this phone truly does embody balance. Even though it is often known as a luxury phone the people at Nokia were particularly experienced in giving more than just looks. They actually delivered and it appears as if which will pay amazing dividends for them.

What is so good about this and other phones coming out today is that developers find new, exciting and creative ways to make phones stand out while never shying away nor neglecting some of the basic functions and prerequisites that people have come to expect in a cell phone — that is cell phone call quality, coverage, and the likes. And that’s of greatest importance today because one cannot make a cell phone which has the richest feature set to date then neglect call quality and expect the phone to be a hit. It simply does not work in that demeanour.

So keep under consideration that today, a luxury might be magnificent but that does not imply that it can’t still function like every other quality cell phone out there. And that is precisely the way things should be, right?

How To Stop Running To Your Doctor With Health Problems

November 10th, 2009 by

Hey there,

Have you been seeing your doctor a little too much lately? Headaches here, chest pains there………..shortness of breath, feeling weak, dizzy, and lethargic.

A nasty virus going around?

Not likely.

Something you caught from your kids?

Probably not.

Well, what is it?

Would you believe (and you should) that it could be that you’re overweight and/or out of shape?

“No way, it can’t be!” you say……..I mean you’re supposed to drag yourself throughout the day eating chips, drinking caffeine laced beverages, and exercising your fingers on the keyboard.

“That’s how life supposed to be”………..you say, work like crazy………make as much money as possible regardless of the health risks……retire (while being overweight and out of shape) and spend a good amount of your retirement visiting your local doctor and hospital waiting for that new breakthrough surgery to suck up all that fat from your arteries. Unfortunately, this is often true of many people nowadays. How can you possibly stop this and decrease the possibility (exponentially, I might add) that you have to spend your retirement years pitching a tent at your doctor’s office.

Get moving.

Start a fitness program………..try to do a pushup (you should be able to do more than 1, by the way)………take a brisk walk around the neighborhood……..take a jog with your dog up and down the street……..try to do 10 crunches……just start something! More importantly, stick with it.

That’s all you need……..just 2 little things.

Start with something……….and stick with it.

2 simple, yet powerful actions. In fact, they’re so powerful that if you did these two little things, you would be in better shape than most people in the world!

You want to know a little secret?

Open your ears and pay attention……….

Your doctor doesn’t want to see you. In fact, they are sick of seeing you………..they would rather be playing golf….lol. But do you want to know why they have to keep long hours and spend minimal time with patients?

Because we are getting fatter and unhealthier by the day. Which equals more health problems, which equals more doctor visits, more hospital visits, more tests (very costly I might add), more x-rays, more surgeries, etc. etc. etc.

How many hundreds and thousands of dollars are you and your family spending on unnecessary health bills? Instead of chewing on a Twinkie…….chew on that thought for a while.

What would you rather have with all that extra money: a new car, a house that’s paid off, a vacation home, a boat?

Wow.

Living healthier, looking leaner, feeling younger and more energized while pocketing extra money from saved doctor bills and surgeries.

Where do you sign up?

Not at your local McDonald’s or Burger King.

Nor at your local greasy spoon restaurant.

You sign up by making a commitment to change your lifestyle. Hey, maybe that’s not what you are wanting to hear, but it’s true. You and only you, (with some help from me, of course) can make that change.

What’s the great thing about it?

So many people have tried and succeeded by doing it the right way, and you can too! It may take some time, it will take some discipline, heck, it may even take some sacrifices….but you will get so excited when you look at yourself in a mirror and see a leaner, fitter, healthier you.

Save money, save insurance company hassles……and for goodness sakes start a fitness program. I may not be able to help you have a body like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie by next week……….but listen to me and you can at least save enough money to take everyone you know to see all of their movies………lol. Actually, with your savings on doctor’s visits……..you’ll have way more money than that.

In closing, you can choose one of two things……….

1.Making a change to commit to a healthier lifestyle, a more balanced diet, and a fitness program that will lead to greater physical fitness, mental health and wellness, endurance (use your imagination), less doctor visits (when they are practically pushing you out the door anyway), less chances for heart attacks, strokes, surgeries…………AND more money in your pocket from saving yourself from these expenses.

VERSUS

2.A diet filled with fats, lard, cholesterol, unlimited carbonated beverages, “diet” drinks (that always gets a chuckle out of me), days of feeling weak, depressed, and lethargic. Let’s not forget a greater than average number of doctor visits, greater chance for health-related surgeries, greater chance for injuries (if and when you decide to get off your butt and do something), combined with looking less attractive to yourself and your significant other (or potential significant other), WHILE wasting money on all of these things.

Quite the laundry list, huh?

I don’t know about you, but I take #1 11 times out of 10. And, if I were you, I would think long and hard about making a change to #1 too.

You can do it, I am here to help. And if you can handle even more fitness strategies for you and your family, go to www.fitnesswithchris.com and check out what I’ve got in store for you. Have a great day!

Keeping up this type of lifestyle does require a degree of commitment and dedication on your part.

A vital step in beating the effects of old age is having healthy eating habits, it’s very important not to eat too much of any one food type, particularly if it contains a lot of fat or grease. Treadmill Tips Step Toward Better Health And A Fit Body

November 9th, 2009 by

The thought of exercise equipment, still brings an automatic vision of the old stationary bike or a treadmill. With the ever growing hectic life we lead, Treadmills are still one of the most widely used exercisers out there. Enabling us to stay home or at work and work out, that’s serious convenience. Not only has it helped us gain a more regular routine but with all the bells and whistles that are out now, like book holders and I-pods, people are getting on the treadmill just to read their mail. They just might lose some of that extra luggage yet.

Treadmills have come a long way since the 1950’s basic treadmill, made up of a motor, mats, rollers, belts and the electrical parts. Basically, the top of the belt rotates in such a way that it allows the user to “run” on a constant or varying speed, thus, controlling the level of workout. Although today’s treadmills have the same basic components as in the past, the treadmill has become an extremely sophisticated piece of exercise equipment.

In addition to providing some very helpful and important information during your workout, treadmills provide a wide variety of exercise options. From walking to jogging to running and even hill climbing, what ever your choice of exercise, you still control the ability to pace yourself at your comfort level. Now with the readily available features like the previously mentioned book holders and I-pods, you can get the flip up TV, track suspension and of course the drink holder. I’m sure everyone can find their comfort zone pretty easily.

Many people find it more rewarding and enjoyable enrolling in a formal exercise class and physically going to the gym than working out at home alone, and that’s great. But many times your work schedules, personal security, weather and health status; all make us reluctant to go out doors for walks regularly, this is the beauty and convenience of a treadmill. Space has always been an issue but with the folding treadmill you don’t need that much space to store it away.

If watching movies is what you like, you can place the treadmill in front of the television set so that you can work out while catching a movie. Or why not finish that book you started or get the last of the reports read for work. If you would prefer walking outside, you can roll the treadmill outside and have the breeze in your face. If you occupy yourself with things that are enjoyable to you while you’re on the treadmill, time will fly and your workouts will seem effortless. But most importantly your workouts will get done.

Determining what treadmill is right for you. Well there really is no set formula to figure this out, everybody is different and you should find what’s right for you. But here are some things to keep in mind if you’re in the market for one.

For starters treadmills are no different than any other products; the cheaper products don’t have many options and break sooner. The higher end treadmills cost more, have more complicated parts, will break down less but when they do break down they cost plenty to service. Factor this in when you’re figuring out your treadmill requirements.

These major factors should be considered when choosing your treadmill; they just might affect your choice, your age, your weight and your personal health. Some might say that exercise is necessary for everyone, but the level of exercise has to change accordingly to each individual’s traits. If you’re buying for the whole family, make sure you look at everyone’s requirements and get a machine that’s well rounded for all. For example, a bigger person may need a wider belt or more space between the handlebars to maintain free arm movement. Age is extremely important especially for older people, a smoother less resilient deck and the heart rate monitor should be key components. Safety features benefit all ages and levels so try and make it a point to include these options.

Decide whether you want to run, walk, workout on an incline, and what type of workout you’re going to perform. This will determine what top speed you need for your treadmill and what size belt as well. If you have problems with shin splits or bad knees or hips, you might want to checkout a suspension deck. They really help with cushioning the blow and savings your achy parts.

Also, consider the length of your stride. If you take big or large steps when walking, obviously you’ll have even a longer stride and will probably need a longer deck and belt. You can get an extensive workout on a longer tread belt and you get more adjustment options.

Determining the quality of motor you need for your treadmill comes down to the type and duration of exercise you choose. Short workouts that require the treadmill to work for short periods of time may not require such an advanced motor, which would save you some money. Whereas, if you use the treadmill for long endurance workouts a stronger motor would be your best bet. Also, consider the noise that the motor makes, an annoying motor just might cut your workouts short.

Once you determine how much you’ll use the treadmill and what features fit you, you’ll be better suited to make an educated decision. Obviously, we recommend the higher end equipment that suits your needs today but has some growth potential in case you get hooked. Safety is always included in our recommendation, it’s a must. Also, higher end treadmills will offer an extended warranty which will help save your treadmill from becoming an expensive clothes rack that can put an end to your treadmill training.

Lamborghini Sports Car Automotive Legends In Both Style And Performance

November 7th, 2009 by

For the legendary Lamborghini sports car stable of fantastic ultra high performance and styled vehicles it all started with ordinary Fiat automobiles and tractors.

Mr. Lamborghini – fully named – Mr. Ferruccio Lamborghini got his start with Fiats and then went on to a large successful manufacturing concern that grew from a small manufacturing shop into a major producer of tractors. However at a certain point in every person’s life they search out to complete what their real passion is. In the case of Lamborghini was finely styled and crafted motor cars. At 60 years of age, an established manufacturer of agricultural tractors – Mr. Lamborghini – decided that he could a better job of building a high end, beautifully styled, performance racing automobiles than either of the two dominant Italian auto firms of that auto industry sector – Ferrari and Maserati.

The first product out of the door had a chassis that was multi-tubular; the engine was front mounted sporting a 3.5 liter 12 cylinder V-12 engine. The V-12 engine itself was fitted with six Weber carburetors and ran four overhead camshafts. It all clocked at 360 ultra smooth horsepower with the transmission drive being through five speed stick shift. Suspension involved a coil and wishbone independent suspension set up. In one word it was wow – both in terms of performance of the hop as well as the automotive styling.

Although the styling of those early Lamborghini models may be considered standard Italian sports car design – designs which have worked their way into the so called standard “sport scar designs “and “sport scar flair”, at the time it was new and innovative and for the most part if was twenty five years ahead of anything produced in the good old U.S.A.. The one American sports car which might be considered an exception to that point was the Chevrolet Corvette. For years to come nothing else really matched or was similar to the clean aerodynamic lines and styling of the early Lamborghini classic autos.

Even then Lamborghini had such innovative products the establishment and reputation of the Lamborghini product line was no easy road to hoe. Although the first cars were produced in 1963 it was not for two years later – at the Turin Motor Show that the car began to attract solid interest and for the reputation of the car and its studio to grow and begin to become accepted for what it should be.

The first real product of record for Lamborghini was what was marketed as Miura T 400 model automobile. Its first year of manufacture was the 1966 model year. The basic layout and design of the Miura T 400 was a mid-engined coupe with a slightly larger version of the overhead cam engine – the classic V-12 laid out transversely behind the two seats of the car. The rear wheels were then driven by this engine through” spurs gears”. Interestingly the gear boxes and rear axles were Lamborghini products all by themselves -so they shared a lineage that was unique and not the same as any other of the competitor’s models.

What was performance of this little cat? The V-12 engine could pour out a total of 385 barrel horsepower. Top speed of this little coupe was over 180 miles per hour. It could more than carry its weight with the local Italian contenders – even the famed Ferraris.

If the was one complaint from drivers or riders it was of noise levels in the car’s cockpit. It can be said that this was the price to be paid for success or in this case speed and performance. If you cannot stand the heat don’t stay in the kitchen. Certainly the buyers of Lamborghini fine motor cars who bought the product and established the revered name for its performance and advanced styling and forgo this small shortcoming or foible as the car as an assumed fact – even a luxury.

The next model in the Lamborghini stable was introduced approximately two years later. The entire life of the production run of the popular Miura model was nine years – with two cars being produced a week ( a production figure of only 100 or so cars a year). The name of this vehicle was the Espada. For the new Lamborghini model, the Espada, Lamborghini went back to a more standard front engine layout. Perhaps this was in response to concerns over noise levels in the cockpit of the Miura and the need to produce a more “standard” or “civilized “vehicle product. No one really knows what went on in the mind of the genius Ferruccio Lamborghini. However what was retained for sure were the Lamborghini basics – the four liter V-12 massive highly tuned engine with whizzy overhead cams and multiple choke carburetors all putting out massive automotive performance and handling.

In the end it can be said that the Lamborghini automotive and automotive styling and performance legends are more than unique and reek of power, thrust and acceleration.

Cognitive Therapy Treatment For Health Anxiety

November 6th, 2009 by

Health anxiety refers to having a preoccupation with a fear of having a serious illness or disease, despite medical investigations that show the person is healthy. A person with health anxiety will often misinterpret normal physical sensations as a sign of serious illness. For example, flu-like symptoms may be misinterpreted as a sign of HIV and tests that indicate the person is HIV negative may be discounted as unreliable.

Health anxiety can be treated effectively with CBT therapy, Edinburgh. The approach used is very similar to that used for treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This involves helping the person with the anxiety to realise that the current way they are dealing with the worrying health thought and feeling, actually keeps the problem going. Factors that keep the problem going include: trying to block the thought, giving health thoughts over -importance such as “It means I will never get better”, constantly seeking reassurance from others, reassuring self with certain phrases or thoughts, looking on the Internet, seeing numerous health practitioners, stopping life activities and giving the thought lots of attention.

CBT therapy, Edinburgh can help you to accept that in fact your problem is not that you have a health problem and must constantly check whether this problem is real, but that your problem is that you worry too much about your health and that this is what’s keeping your anxiety going.

A CBT therapist, Edinburgh, will help you become habituated to your anxious health thoughts, which basically means learning to accept your thoughts, let them come and welcome them in. They are just thoughts, not the truth or a prediction of your future. Accepting and letting our thoughts in, will trigger more anxiety at first but if you practice this regularly then your anxiety will naturally fade. This is called exposure therapy and must be done alongside a technique called response prevention, which means not seeking reassurance or trying to make the thoughts feel better!

Practising a form of meditation called mindfulness can help you develop the tools to accept unpleasant thoughts and feelings without trying to change them. This acceptance will mean that you will be able to overcome your problem. It’s the worry that is keeping it going.

The Motorola cell phone was the very very first cellular phone out as well as the ridiculous price back then proves it was the first of its kind. Now smartphone technology is so advanced that the smallest mistake can bring an entire business down. Even when Nextel Cell Phones No Contract made their initial appearance the crowd went wild, but right after a while they were bored and demanded newer and much better equipment on No Contract Cell Phones.

Points just keep getting far better and far better for smartphones users. Recently this was evidenced by the mobile media organization, Mspot who are now capable to stream full length movies to mobile phones. The devices able to receive this remarkable data are iPhone, Blackberry Mobile Phones and Cellular Phones utilizing the Google Android engineering.

The organization Mspot has struck deals with Paramount Studios, the Weinstein Company and Universal Pictures to release some of their films to handsets. Presently Mspot has above 500 films available at their site including new releases. Mspot is in talks with other big name studios in hope to bring more films to much more mobile phones nationwide. The technologies currently works with more than 30 telephone makes and may be employed with any from the national carriers available. The movies cost $5 dollars and may be watch in a time frame between 24 hours to five days right after they are rented. In addition movie club memberships are also obtainable.

This is truly incredible stuff and it can be just one more reason that mobile phones are all getting smartphones and that each and each maker of cell phones is creating a push in that market. The days from the basic handset are above a lot like the days of the landline as the typical cell phone are over, except in businesses of course. It is all really interesting though. The mobile device is getting much more and more capable of doing anything the user wants. Games, television, films, music, cameras, it’s all accessible, in one device, in the users pocket.

And with innovative companies like Mspot producing a lot more applications and features possible whilst the cellular phone makers themselves continue to get much more creative it looks as though the customer will probably be winning for years to come. There is also so much healthy competition within the industry that the buyers can pick and choose what they like although companies fight over their service by giving incredible deals and rates.

This innovation is most likely just the tip with the iceberg, too. It can be really most likely that more innovative stuff is on the way by BlackBerry Cell Phones. Whilst the future of hover crafts and flying cars has yet to come into existence who could have thought full length feature films would be in our pockets as soon as 2009 and 2010. Yes, the way things are going it appears that technologies will probably be much more and more mobile and stronger than ever prior to, as well.
